Lot - 44 BANK OF THE UNITED STATES $1000 BANK BOND

The image shows a reproduction of a \$1,000 banknote issued by the Bank of the United States, dated December 15, 1840.

  • Authenticity: The serial number 8894 is a known indicator of a common reproduction or souvenir item, rather than an authentic, valuable historical document.
  • Original Purpose: The original notes were "post notes" that promised to pay the sum seventeen months after the date of issue.
  • Historical Context: The note was issued by the Bank of the United States operating under a Pennsylvania state charter after its federal charter lapsed.
  • Original Value: An authentic note with a different serial number (e.g., 8893) was valued at nearly \$2,000 in a 2021 auction, highlighting the significant difference in value between genuine and reproduction items.

Lot - 45 CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA $500 BANK NOTE

This is a $500 Confederate States of America banknote issued on February 17, 1864, featuring a portrait of General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson on the right and the Confederate seal on the left.

  • The note was printed by Keatinge & Ball in Richmond, Virginia.
  • It promises to pay the bearer $500 "Two Years after the ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and the United States".
  • The currency was not backed by hard assets like gold or silver, but by a promise of Southern victory and independence.
  • After the Confederacy's defeat in the Civil War, the money became worthless as currency

Lot - 46 1928 G RED SEAL SILVER CERTIFICATE

This is a Series 1928 United States Note with a distinctive red seal.

  • Known as "Red Seal" notes, this type of currency was a form of U.S. Legal Tender.
  • The front features a portrait of President Thomas Jefferson.
  • The reverse side depicts an engraving of Jefferson's home, Monticello.
  • The note's value is influenced by its condition, specific series letter (like G, as seen in some 1928 notes), and serial number

Lot - 47 Lot of 2 FRANCE FRANCS 5 & 10

These are 5 and 10 franc Allied Military Currencybanknotes (also known as "flag tickets" or "invasion money") issued in 1944 for use in liberated France during World War II.

  • The notes were printed by the British and Americans for the D-Day invasion to serve as temporary currency in occupied territories and to control local currency.
  • The 5 and 10 franc notes are square-shaped.
  • They were withdrawn from circulation in 1945 after the French government under Charles de Gaulle considered the currency counterfeit.
  • The notes feature the French tricolor flag on the reverse side
